BAS Alumni Communications Officer

Purpose Statement 

Community. Learning. Service.​

The aim of the Boston Ayurveda School Alumni Association is to foster an activated and energized community of Ayurvedic Health Counselors and Practitioners who are committed to sharing the gift of this sacred knowledge and spreading the healing light of Ayurveda to a wide range of populations. ​

Alumni Communications Officer

Key responsibilities:  

  • Foster a sense of community through engaging and meaningful Alumni communications.

  • Compose content for a monthly newsletter focused on BAS and BAS-AA events and news. 

  • Provide newsletter copy to BAS team to ensure timely production / distribution schedule.

  • Compose copy for the BAS-AA Alumni website and makes updates as needed.

  • Collaborate with Outreach Officer as needed to support BAS Podcast.

  • Collaborate with Member Relations Officer as needed to support BAS-AA Chat Room.

Background / skills: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Timely, detail-oriented and enjoys admin work 

  • Moderately tech savvy

General Commitments of all Board Officers

  • Make a one year commitment​ (Our year runs August – September)

  • Attend monthly Board meetings​ 

    • Currently held on 2nd Tuesday of every month at 4PM EST for 1 hour

  • Attend annual Board Retreat (1 day in late summer)

  • Be responsive to email (within 2 business days)

  • Participate in additional meetings and calls needed to facilitate the work​

  • Participate in BAS events i.e. Ayurveda Day, graduations​

Additional Commitments of Communication Officer  

  • Attend monthly Communications meetings to plan the newsletter content 

    • Currently held on 1st Monday of every month at 11AM EST for 30 minutes

  • Volunteer approx 6 hours per month to create newsletter content and update website
