With Kim Valeri Povey & Claire Este McDonald
Sunday, December 20
3–5pm • Livestream

During the darkest day of the year, this Winter Solstice is a reminder to make your spirit bright through the teachings of yoga and Ayurveda. Kim and Claire will share methods for finding happiness, cultivating a loving warmth, giving it to others, and embracing love when it is offered to you. According to Ayurveda, Sattva is the natural state of a balanced mind. Thoughts and feelings that leave us agitated (rajas) or blocked (tamas) get elevated through the practices of Ayurveda and Yoga. Learn how to assess and cultivate sattva in your life. Bring a journal, candle, warm socks, have props available to practice and prepare for trataka meditation.

Cultivating sattva represents a devotional temperament that can illuminate and chill heated emotions while enkindling a pure flame that melts any cold, and hard emotions that leave you to feel distant, separate, and alone. Cultivating sattva is about removing those blockages and helping the body's innate intelligence flow. Yoga, Ayurveda sister sciences help to purify the mind and senses, illuminating any darkness within. Ayurveda's wisdom helps us manifest healthy bodies, right relationships, prosperity, joy, and alignment to our dharma and essential nature.

Boston Ayurveda School Director Kim will then present information about the Ayurvedic Health Counselor Training, which includes the new Personalized Ayurveda Immersion. Both programs have online educational opportunities. In the Ayurvedic Health Counselor training, you’ll learn how to take a complete lifestyle history evaluation and advise clients on individualized wellness needs. The scope of the Ayurvedic Health Counselor training includes cooking, diet, home remedies, stress management, psychology, daily circadian rhythms, seasonal routines, and more. The Personalized Ayurveda Immersion, a required component of the Ayurvedic Health Counselor training, is a guided self-paced course that incorporates an individualized Master Wellness Plan and access to the student portal that contains our video syllabus and content library. There will be plenty of time for questions at the end of the session!
